I often distract myself with creative forays into the unknown. Sometimes these work well and sometimes not at all. I always learn from them though which is positive although sometimes I wish my learning curves could be a little less expensive at times.
I'd like to share a few of my forays into the unknown.

Sea Glass . . . Again?!

Connections made through blogs are wonderful. Juliet Doyle is a fine writer and writes about a wonderful variety of things - sea glass amongst them. Here is another piece of her Mersea Sea Glass transformed this time using copper wire braided. This was a but of a punt for me. I had the braided bangle to hand as it just didn't have the robustness needed to be a bangle. A much thicker wire would be needed for this. It was a happy coincidence that the length of the bangle was enough to creating the bail. This is a slightly larger piece and it is strung on black cotton cord with copper ends.
Blush Whimsey Stretchy Bracelet

I will often buy supplies - beads, metals, stringing materials, all sort - just to have a play with them. I enjoy trying new techniques and exploring with different materials. This is a combination of those things an my love of the random. This was a wonderfully simple bracelet to create and I found it rather therapeutic as I didn't have to plan it to the last wire wrap or bead. In fact, I might even add more too it! Take one string of quality Czech glass beads, one stretchy bracelet with loads of rings (commercially available), 50+ silverplated head pins and just wrap and add as the beads come off the string (mostly). Oh and add a couple of nice metal charms. Towards the end of course fullness and balance might mean having to be a bit less random but it wasn't onerous and I think it is a nice inexpensive bracelet. It would be glorious in sterling silver but this silverplated version is fun nonetheless.
Art Glass Framed Mini Panel - Future project: Tree of Life Abstracted
If you have visited my main website and nosed around a bit, you might have found my artglass page. I have a round panel called 'Tree of Life' which is a wonderfully colourful piece but quite large. I have more of the glass I used and wondered about creating a new panel in my 'mini framed' series. So the image you see is taken by holding the proposed frame up to the original panel and seeing if I can get a 4x6 inch section that would make a panel. And I think I have and I think I will.
Designing to Verse Update
No, I haven't forgotten! But I do get sidetracked by things rather easily. However I am planning to design an art glass panel and a piece of jewellery to 'Blue Disorder'. I have hopes to use some more of the poetic phrases/poems as well.
Next time - who knows what I'll share, but certainly the Rackenford Village Shop collection of Hedgelands Jewellery will be announced soon.
